Welcome to the international conference on art mediation at the National Museum.

This year, the spotlight is on the relationship between the art museum and its audiences. New art mediation practices around the world show greater awareness and solicitude for audiences. Greater emphasis is placed on the individual as a whole, with health and well-being forming crucial considerations. Could this be a paradigm shift?

Starting from a broad understanding of the concept of care, the conference will explore how art museums implement effective solicitude for, and curiosity and interest in their visitors. A further theme will be the ways that museums work to create meaningful encounters between the public and art.

The conference will present papers, conversations, case studies and workshops, with contributors from Singapore, Mexico, Denmark, Iceland, the UK, Greece, Sweden and Norway.

You must have an entrance ticket to attend the conference. Information about the programme and tickets/registration will be published here in the course of May. The meeting point is the social area inside the National Museum. The event will be streamed for free.
