The Conservation Team for New Art Forms focuses on the conservation of contemporary art, particularly artworks comprising time-based media, and complex material and technique combinations in installations and sculptures.

In response to rapid technological and cultural change, the team researches conservation of plastics, conservation culture and documentation strategies for immaterial and digital artworks over the past century. Conservators work closely with artists and experts in order to understand artistic intentions and develop long-term conservation strategies. The aim is to manage material deterioration, technological obsolescence and changing social contexts.
