Furniture
I have some old jærstoler that are rather dirty [classic Norwegian chairs with woven straw seats]. How can I clean the seats?
Unfortunately, seats made of reeds or straw are difficult to clean, because the material can’t withstand much wetness and also it doesn’t dry well. In general, I’d only use a very slightly damp cloth for cleaning. You could possibly add a few drops of green soap to the water, but you must remember to wipe the seat with clean water afterwards.

- How should one care for old furniture that’s made of completely untreated wood?
- I have an old plank of wood from 1894 with pencil writing on it. How should we preserve it for the future?
