About the National Museum

Norway’s New National Arts Museum

The Norwegian government is planning to build a new “all-arts” museum in Oslo. The new National Museum will become an important and dynamic arena for the general public to meet the visual arts.

The proposed building signals the museum’s significance on a national and international level.

"The new National Arts Museum will be one of Norways most important and monumental buildings. In addition, the environmental standards are high and security issues are central. An extensive planning period is behind us; we now look forward to starting the building process." Øivind Christoffersen, CEO, Statsbygg
