The Methodological Compass – Education Through Architecture project has successfully concluded, strengthening cooperation between the Brno City Museum (MuMB) and the National Museum of Art, Architecture, and Design (Nasjonalmuseet) in Oslo.

This initiative explored innovative ways to use architecture as an educational tool in museums, offering new perspectives on how architectural heritage can enhance learning experiences.

As part of the project, experts from both institutions collaborated to develop a comprehensive methodological guide designed to help museum educators incorporate architecture into their programs.

The project included several key activities, beginning with a seminar in Oslo, where professionals from both countries exchanged knowledge and contributed to shaping the methodology. This was followed by a conference in Brno, where the newly developed guide was introduced, and its practical applications in museum education were discussed.

A bilingual publication was produced, presenting a structured approach to seven thematic areas of architectural education. Throughout the project, workshops and consultations ensured the high quality and practical usability of the materials.

The initiative brought significant benefits to both institutions and the wider museum community. Museum professionals and educators gained valuable insights into using architecture as an interactive learning tool.

The methodological guide provides a well-structured resource that will help expand educational opportunities in museums and engage diverse audiences. The project also strengthened cultural ties between Czechia and Norway, laying the groundwork for future collaborations in the field of museum education.

Through this initiative, MuMB and Nasjonalmuseet have taken an important step toward making museum education more dynamic, participatory, and accessible. The project was supported by EEA Grants 2014–2021 under the Culture Programme.
