Discover new aspects of Mark Rothko and his art in this exclusive encounter with the artist’s son, Christopher Rothko.

The conversation will be held in English and led by Karianne Ommundsen from the National Museum, who has worked on the current exhibition “Mark Rothko. Paintings on Paper” in the Light Hall.

A psychologist and writer, Christopher Rothko also administrates his father’s artistic estate. He has written extensively about his relationship with his father and his art, notably in the book Mark Rothko. From the Inside Out. He has also curated several exhibitions in museums and galleries around the world. He recently co-curated the first retrospective of Rothko’s work in France at the Fondation Louis Vuitton.

The conversation is part of the supplementary programme for “Mark Rothko. Paintings on Paper”. The first major presentation of Rothko’s art in the Nordic countries, the exhibition presents over eighty paintings on paper from every phase of the artist’s career.

This event is reserved for National Museum members and requires registration. The number of places is limited.
